Dr. Edie and Dr. Pinkerton will carefully review your child's medical history and discuss any concerns with you before recommending sedation. For general anesthesia, our in-office anesthesiologist is specially trained in pediatric care and will monitor your child closely throughout the entire procedure.

With nitrous sedation, the effects wear off quickly. Your child might feel a bit giggly during the procedure, but they'll be back to their normal self by the time you leave our office. For general anesthesia, recovery takes a bit longer. Your child might feel groggy or sleepy for a few hours afterward. We'll provide you with detailed aftercare instructions and be available to answer any questions you might have. Rest assured, we'll make sure you feel confident caring for your child post-procedure.

Preparing your child can make a big difference in their experience. For nitrous sedation, there's not much prep needed — just make sure your child has a light meal about two hours before the appointment. For general anesthesia, we'll provide detailed instructions, but generally, your child should not eat or drink anything for a certain period before the procedure.
